Inspiring Indonesia

About The Contest

It all started with a single picture. Back in 2007, Garuda Indonesia held a national photo contest which has now evolved to be Garuda Indonesia International Photo Contest (GIIPC), one of the largest photo contests in Indonesia. Every year, thousands of pictures are submitted for the competition.

GIIPC continues to grow and receives exceptional response from photographers and photography communities all around the world. In 2008 there were 4,000 international participants from 20 countries. In 2009, there were 6,170 international participants from 30 countries and 8,050 participants from 36 countries the next year. Over 14,000 pictures were submitted that year.
GIIPC has a unique online system of submission and traditional two-part qualification process, where participants are taken for a trip to a secret location to hunt their winning photos for the final leg. Our hotline service is available to help participants should they have any queries or problems concerning GIIPC 2011.

Categories in this year’s competition are Landscape, Culture, People and Special Award. The total prize reaches IDR 110 million, plus trophies and other kinds of goodies, including Garuda Indonesia flight tickets for the winners on each category.
This year’s qualification-round theme is “My Inspiring Homeland”. Contestants are expected to square off against photographers from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Iran, Myanmar, the United States, and other countries.

This is a two round contest: Qualification Round and Final Round.

Qualification Round

In this leg of the competition, you can participate by sending in your best photos with or without Digital Processing.
Submit your photos with these specific sizes: a maximum length/height of 1,024 pixels and a maximum resolution of 150 dpi. Each person may send a maximum of 15 photos.

The Theme for the Qualification Round is ‘My Inspiring Homeland’. Using this theme you are expected to describe your country by exposing the 3 aspects of People, Culture and Landscape within a beautiful picture.
The Qualification Round will start in July 11th 2011 and ends in September 25th 2011. Photographers should send their pictures within this timeframe.

Final Round

The Final Round is the next stage for those who have passed the Qualification Round.

In this stage, Finalists will be invited to a Hunting Trip to a certain secret destination in Indonesia and compete with each other to find the best photo that they can find in the allotted time.  The Judging process will be done one day after the end of the Hunting Trip. The Winner of Garuda Indonesia International Photo Contest 2010 will be selected by the Jury panel based on their photos made during the Hunting Trip.
